I actually wanted to respond "all of the above" to the poll... only recently discovered your substack (thank you Zabby!) so looking forward to catching up on your past offerings

Hi and welcome! Yes the consensus seems to be “we want everything!” Which is a nice problem to have

This is supremely unhelpful I know, but I’ve enjoyed everything you’ve shared since I subscribed and I wouldn’t, for instance, have known to ask for a video about urban wetlands in London! The first time I saw a cinnabar moth I was speechless, couldn’t believe moths could be so beautiful.

Moths are glorious! A couple of days ago, my 11-year-old said, "I think moths are more interesting than butterflies. There's something about them."

Something about them... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The mystery of moths!

One of these appeared at my front door the other day, I've always found them fascinating! Beautiful creatures. I'd love to see interviews but also more of your videos for sure!

I think one of the reasons people dislike moths is because of their reputation for eating clothes or nesting in pantries but those are only two species, not the same ones that pollinate night flowers I don’t think?

I look forward to your posts on light pollution, this is an issue that I’m very concerned with too. Not just for urban stargazing (now that sounds like an oxymoron right?) but also the conflict between having well lit city areas and safety for women walking at night, but also combating light pollution for nature’s sake.

And I can’t choose from your list, I’d like everything!

I think you’re absolutely right! And definitely on the lights, it’s a difficult balance. I’ll dive into an essay so keep an eye out for it!

I had a bad moth experience on the eve of my English O’ level, but have managed to make my peace since then. There are some stunning moths, for sure. We have lots in the grass this year though hardly any butterflies.

In glad you have reconciled! Yes I’ve heard from others that butterflies are worryingly down this year.

I’ve just done the survey - only clocked 6. It will be interesting to see the results.

I agree, moths are definitely underrated, there are so many beautiful moths out there, and a lot of them have amazing names.
